1. Who we are
Magnet is published by Chankla LLC, the data controller for everything described on this page. Any question about your data goes to contact@themagnet.app.
2. What Magnet collects
Only what the app needs to do its job:
- Your onboarding answers — your gender, who you are looking for, your first name, which dating apps you use and what is not working for you. They shape the audit and the wording of everything the app writes for you.
- The photos and the bio you submit — the profile you want audited, retouched or scored.
- Screenshots you share with the Message Coach — a profile or a conversation you want an opener for.
- Your account — email address, or the private relay address Sign in with Apple gives us.
- Your subscription status — active, expired, and your credit balance. Never your card details.
3. Your photos and your bio
A photo leaves your phone when — and only when — you ask for an analysis, a photo scan or a retouch. It is sent over an encrypted connection to our AI provider, OpenAI, processed, and returned as a score, a breakdown or a new image. The same goes for the screenshots and text you submit. OpenAI does not keep your submissions to train its models. Your photos are never published, never shown to other users, never sold, and never used to advertise anything.
Photos attached to an analysis stay on your phone; we keep only their scores and the written feedback in your account, so you can reopen the analysis later. Delete the analysis, or ask us to delete your account, and everything attached to it goes too.
4. Photos that show your face
Most photos you submit show your face. Magnet treats them as ordinary photographs:
- We collect no face data. The app does not run facial recognition, does not measure or map facial features, and does not create face templates, faceprints or any other biometric identifier, on your device or on our servers.
- What they are used for. Our AI provider, OpenAI, processes them for one purpose: the result you asked for, a score with written feedback or a retouched image. OpenAI does not keep your photos and does not use them to train its models. No other third party receives them.
- Storage and retention. Photos submitted for an analysis stay on your phone. Photos submitted for a retouch or a photo template pass through our storage (Supabase) while the job runs; we delete them within 7 days, and the app saves the result on your phone.
- Deletion. Delete an analysis and its content goes with it; delete your account and we purge everything our systems still hold, photos included (see “How long we keep it”).
5. What stays on your phone
Some of what you write never leaves the device at all. Your bio drafts, your prompt answers, your opener history, your Message Coach style settings and the draft of an analysis in progress live in your phone's local storage. Uninstall the app and they are gone — we cannot recover them for you.
6. Who processes your data

7. What we never do
- We do not sell your data, to anyone, for any amount.
- We do not run advertising in the app and we do not build advertising profiles.
- We do not publish your photos or your profile anywhere.
- We do not send your data to a third party except to run a feature you asked for, or to meet a legal obligation.
8. How long we keep it
Your account data is kept while your account exists. Analyses are kept until you delete them or close your account; the photos behind a retouch or template job are deleted within 7 days of the job finishing. Once an account is deleted, the data is removed from our systems within 30 days, except what we are legally required to keep — billing records in particular.
9. Where your data goes
Some of the providers above operate outside the European Union, in particular in the United States. Those transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, or on an adequacy decision where one applies.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw a consent you gave. Write to contact@themagnet.app and we will answer within one month. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to your national data protection authority — the CNIL in France.
11. Under 18
Magnet is for adults. If you are under 18, do not use the app. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this page. If a change affects you materially, the app will tell you. The version in force is the one published here, and continuing to use Magnet after an update means you accept it.
